New Year's Eve
Breakfast at the hotel.
09:00 leave the hotel for the Neighborhood Committee,
where the group will be met first by the Yangge
Dancers - a traditional Chinese folk dance particularly
seen in the New Year period - when they enter the
small alley. They are dressed in colorful costumes
but less fancy, and the instrument is also less
complicated: big drums, Chinese trumpets (sounds
similar to that of the Scottish bag pipe) and cymbals.
Tourists may join them if they want. It will last
for an hour. And all this happens at the back street
of Beijing together with the local Chinese. Afterwards
the group will be taken to a Chinese calligraphy
demonstration where clients could even make a try
or alternatively the group may visit some Chinese
homes to see the preparations of the New Year's
Eve.
Visit the Summer Palace in the afternoon. |
