Tourist Attractions:
Stone Forest
The forest is
a special type of limestone formation known as karst. From
a distance, it looks indeed like a dense forest; hence the
name the Stone Forest.
Lugu Lake
Lugu Lake is the culturalcradle
of the "Matriarchy" of the Yongning Mosuo people.
Manfeilong Tower Pagodas
Also known as
the Flying Dragon White Pagodas, they stand on the rear mountain
of Manfeilong Village in Damenglong, Jinghong County. Built
with stones and bricks in 556 by the Dai calendar (1204),
the pagodas are octangular in shape. On the primary rock appears
a foot print, which is said to be made by Sakyamuni.
Manjinglan Dai Village
The village has 179
households of the Dais. The Dai tower houses are made of bamboo.
Each household has a compound surrounded with a bamboo fence.
In the courtyard fruit trees and various tropical plants grow
year round. If you are lucky to have a chance to participate
in the activities of the Water Splashing Festival, the villagers
will splash you with their propitious water to wish you good
luck.
Shangri-La----Zhongdian
Surrounded by
snowy mountains, the mysterious valleys are lying down the
vast grasslands on the plateau, where you can find pyramid-style
snow peaks, crystal-blue lakes, the Lama temples, and Catholic
Churches…
This is the place
named "Shangri-La", the hidden paradise described by James
Hilton in his novel Lost Horizon. Zhongdian of China is the
right place of Shangri-La. Zhongdian is a bright pearl mounted
in the "Great Triangle" linking Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet,
a pure land of the Three River Intersection (Nu River, Lancang
River and Jinsha River). It is a Shangri-La with a rarely
well-preserved natural ecology, with simply and unsophisticated
traditional folkways in the world.
Traveling from the Jinsha River toward
the snow land, tourist can experience the special Zhongdian
Phenomenon of different climates and enjoy different scenery
in one day, including "snowing in June with ripen fruits growing,
icy spring with apricot flowers in blossom". "Tiger Leaping
Gorge" is one of the world famous canyons; Gedan Songzan Monastery
Forest, also called Small Potala Palace, is an art palace
of Lamaism culture of the Tibetans; the White Water Platform,
a relic of our ancestors, is the origin of Dongba Culture.
The Bita Sea, a pearl in the plateau, is a place Where the
lake fish become drunk from the azalea falling onto the water;
Napa Lake is the paradise of crane.
