Capital of Guangdong province in southern China, Guangzhou
is the largest metropolis in South China's coastal area. Adjacent
to Hong Kong and Macao Guangzhou has greatly benefited from
reforms, which have made china more open. Now Guangzhou is
China's southern gateway.
Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Memorial
Hall
It
was built with funds contributed by overseas Chinese and the
residents of Guangzhou to honor Dr. Sun Yat-sen, and was built
on the site of the presidential house where Dr. Sun Yat-sen
acted as the provisional president in 1922.
Foshan Ancestral Temple
It is a Taoist temple, first built during Emperor Yuan Feng's
reign (1078-1085) of the Song Dynasty. The whole structure
is characterized by compactness and simplicity.
Liurong Temple
(Six-Banyan Temple)
It was built in 537. Six banyan trees once grew in its courtyard.
The trees impressed Su Dongpo, great poet and calligrapher
of Song Dynasty, so much that he immediately wrote two characters
Liu Rong (six banyan trees).
Guangzhou: Ancestral Temple
of Chen Family
It was built during the reign of Emperor Guang Xu from 1890
to 1894, with funds raised from the Chen's families. On its
ground of 10,000 square meters, there are six courtyards and
nine main halls, luxuriously furnished, typical of South China
architecture.
